I have been terribly fortunate as a traveler, both because I love any kind of wandering, and because I have had the opportunity to do it. Visiting other parts of the world creates, for me, a kind of time machine. Maybe you’ve felt it too. I’ve noticed that a week somewhere else feels equivalent to a month at home. My theory is that when you’ve traveled to a new place, your mind and heart become crammed with so much fresh experience that it expands your sense of time. It feels like it’s been more than a week because you’ve been awash in novelty..
Travel also expands your mind. It helps you realize how utterly divergent human cultures can be, at the same time it becomes so clear how much we have in common. Every trip I’ve made always reveals once more the extraordinary beauty of the planet, and the remarkable resilience and creativity of the world’s people, cultures and history. It has a powerful way of keeping life in perspective.
Even when it can be ugly, we all learn and grow.
I’ve tried to make this Photo Gallery you see below something more than Chip’s Excellent Adventures, or worse, Chip’s mind-numbing slide show of boring excursions.
The albums below can help you navigate. Occasionally an image might link you to an interesting article, book, or experience. Or you can explore the Gallery randomly, image by image. Whatever works for you.
I hope you enjoy what you find. Feel free to send comments or thoughts, and your own experiences!
